Smart Telescope Atlas app privacy

Your place, numeric horizon, telescope, hitlist and private photos are stored on your device. The app has no advertising tracker or analytics SDK. Device backups may include local app data.

When you request weather, rounded coordinates (0.1°) are sent through our Cloudflare service to MET Norway. The service receives your network request; MET Norway receives the proxy request, not your device IP. Camera images are never used for weather.

Personal push is optional and initially disabled until the service is configured. With your explicit permission, we store your observing coordinates, numeric horizon, telescope, hitlist, preferred hours, language and push token in Cloudflare Durable Objects. Apple delivers iOS notifications. No camera images or private photos are sent for alerts.

Disable alerts in My place to delete the server profile and token. An internet connection is required to confirm deletion. Inactive alert profiles expire after 30 days without synchronization. Notifications are delivered only between 08:00 and 23:00 at your observing place.

Choosing a photo saves a resized JPEG locally and strips embedded metadata, including GPS. Only a separate submission with ownership and publication permission sends the photo, credit name, telescope, target, exposure, date and notes to our existing Cloudflare R2 moderation service. Approved submissions may appear publicly on the website.

You can delete private photos and local app data in the app. Deleting a local copy does not withdraw a published submission. For removal of a submission or privacy questions, contact hello@smarttelescopeatlas.com. Profile exports contain your coordinates and horizon; share them deliberately.

Requests may be processed by Cloudflare security services. Temporary request limits use network identifiers to limit abuse. Telescope guides and other website links open separately and follow the website privacy and cookie policy. Forecasts and calculated framing are estimates, not image-quality or clear-weather guarantees.
