Unistellar app 5.1 adds guided tours and corrects a visibility display
Unistellar says its app-only 5.1.0 release adds themed observing tours and tutorials, and fixes a message that could mislabel objects already visible.
What changed
Unistellar dates app version 5.1.0 to 23 October 2026. Its telescope changelog, updated on 27 October, describes guided tours, a tutorials section and an Explore page that adjusts to the connected instrument. The release does not include a telescope firmware update.
Using a tour
The manufacturer says tours can be read without connecting a telescope or followed with one. In the Planetarium, open Explore and select a telescope tour. Tours can be downloaded in advance; the app identifies objects it considers unobservable before starting. These are manufacturer descriptions, not an independent hands-on test.
Why the visibility fix matters
Unistellar says the app previously could describe an already visible object as becoming visible later. Version 5.1.0 corrects that display issue. A suggested target still depends on your actual horizon, local light pollution and weather; neither the tour nor the corrected message guarantees an observation.
What remains uncertain
- The release notes do not specify model-by-model availability for every tour or a rollout schedule for each market and mobile platform.
- The content and visibility fix have not been independently tested by Smart Telescope Atlas.
