Privacy

Your location, horizon and sky settings stay in your browser. We do not store addresses or coordinates on a server.

Address search

When you search an address, your browser sends that text to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service to find the coordinates. Satellite imagery is loaded from Esri's tile service. Both services receive your IP address as part of the request.

Cloud forecast

To show the cloud forecast, your browser asks our own server for the weather at your place, rounded to 0.1° (roughly 10 km). Our server passes that rounded position to MET Norway (the Norwegian Meteorological Institute) and caches the answer for 30 minutes. We do not log or store these requests.

Globe orientation

When the home page loads, the globe turns towards your region. We first guess it from your browser's time zone, then ask our own server, which uses Cloudflare's approximate IP location rounded to whole degrees (about 100 km). This only turns the globe; it does not choose your place, and nothing is stored.

Sharing your sky

"Share my sky" creates a link with your place rounded to 0.1° (about 10 km), the date, time, sky quality, telescope and horizon. It contains no address or place name, and it is stored only in the part of the link after the #, which browsers do not send to our server. Nothing is shared unless you send the link yourself.

Horizon scan

The live horizon scan uses your camera and motion sensors only inside your browser. No camera image is uploaded or stored; we keep only the horizon line (one height per 5° of compass direction) in the page you have open.

Analytics

We count visits with Umami, which uses no cookies and no personal data. Google Analytics 4 only sets cookies after you choose "Allow analytics" in the banner; until then it runs in Consent Mode and sends anonymous, cookieless measurements. You can change your choice at any time via "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. Both see which pages are visited and which buttons are used (for example a store link or "Share my sky"). We never send your location, address or horizon to them.
