Vaonis reveals modular Atlas, with March 2027 shipments planned

By Smart Telescope Atlas · Published · Source check

Atlas accepts one or two 80 mm imaging modules. Twin combines both on one target; it does not widen the field. Delivery remains a manufacturer target, not current stock.

What Vaonis announced

Vaonis revealed Atlas on 15 October. Its Sky Dock mount accepts a Single or Twin configuration. Each Atlas 80 module pairs an 80 mm, 360 mm f/4.5 refractor with a Sony IMX585 sensor. Sky Guard adds an all-sky camera; session planning uses the Gaia app.

Twin is not a wider telescope

Vaonis says Twin combines two modules looking at the same object to gather more light, while retaining the field of one module. It is not simultaneous imaging of two targets. This is a manufacturer claim, not an independently measured performance result.

Before changing a buying decision

Vaonis schedules pre-order shipments for March 2027. Space.com independently reports the launch, but its coverage is not a field test. If you need a telescope sooner, compare documented, currently offered models instead of treating the announced upgrade path as delivered hardware.

What remains uncertain

  • Shipment timing and destination-specific delivery are not guaranteed. No Atlas stock, local price or retail offer has been added here.
  • Future modules and accessories are not verified as shipping. Image quality, tracking performance and app reliability still need independent evidence.
