Twin keeps the same 1.78° × 1.00° native field. Both modules image the same object, not two targets. Vaonis describes an equivalent f/3.2 light-gathering speed; this is a manufacturer claim, not our measured result. Our simulations do not model Twin.

Vaonis lists a heavy-duty aluminium tripod and a transport bag with both configurations. Battery life is a manufacturer figure, not our runtime test.

What to check before pre-ordering

Ideal for

  • Bright nebulae and most popular galaxies
  • Long sessions (6 h per charge, official figure)

Less suited for

  • The largest targets, such as Andromeda, which need a mosaic
  • A tight budget

What the numbers mean for you

  • About 3.4 full Moons fit side by side across the frame.
  • The Andromeda Galaxy is larger than the frame: you need a mosaic for all of it.
  • The lens collects 7.1× as much light as a 30 mm smart telescope.

A medium field frames most nebulae and larger galaxies; the very largest targets need a mosaic.

How targets fit the frame

M31 · 190′ × 60′
M31 Andromeda Galaxy (blue) inside the native frame of Atlas Single (1.78° × 1°).
M42 · 66′ × 60′
M42 Orion Nebula (blue) inside the native frame of Atlas Single (1.78° × 1°).
M51 · 11′ × 8′
M51 Whirlpool Galaxy (blue) inside the native frame of Atlas Single (1.78° × 1°).

Which popular targets fit

Based on each object's size against the short side of the native frame. "Larger than the frame" needs a mosaic or only shows part of the object.

Questions and answers

Is Atlas available now?
Vaonis advertises pre-orders with shipping planned for March 2027. Confirm destination-specific availability and current terms directly with Vaonis; this is not an in-stock listing.
Does Twin give a wider field of view?
No. Both 80 mm modules observe the same target and retain the native field of one module. Use mosaic mode for a larger field; our catalogue and simulator represent Single.
Can I reuse my Vespera accessories?
Vaonis says Vespera accessories are not compatible with Atlas. Check the exact Atlas accessory and its availability before ordering.
Can the Vaonis Atlas photograph the Andromeda Galaxy?
Only part of it. M31 is larger than its 1.78° × 1° frame, so you need a mosaic, which this model supports for the whole galaxy.
How many popular targets does the Vaonis Atlas frame well?
6 of our 20 popular deep-sky targets fit well in one frame (rank 15 of 15). Good fits include M81 Bode's Galaxy, M101 Pinwheel Galaxy, M13 Hercules Cluster.
Can I look through the Vaonis Atlas?
No. It has no eyepiece, so you see the stacked image on your phone or tablet.
What does the Vaonis Atlas cost?
The official price was €3,990 when we checked on 2026-10-17. Prices change, so check the store.
